How to style these 5 wardrobe essentials for fall

Here are a few of my top five wardrobe essentials that seamlessly transition into fall fashion. These pieces can be worn year-round, so there's no need to pack them away when the weather changes. Fashion is fun for many reasons, but one of the best parts is experimenting with different silhouettes and finding fresh ways to style them for the season.

Your wardrobe essentials may differ from mine, and that’s completely normal. However, I believe these pieces offer flexibility and versatility to almost any wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to experiment—you might just discover something that reignites your love for fashion!

01. Loafers.

This is one way I’d style loafers for fall. Pairing them with socks, a mini skirt and long double-breasted coat adds an unexpected touch of elegance. The look is versatile and effortless, yet gives the impression that you spent a lot of time putting it together. You probably already have most of these pieces in your wardrobe; it’s all about playing with the styling. I can picture this outfit in various settings—work, happy hour, date night, coffee date. It's chic, effortless—everything the Kenni Girl aspires to be, right?

02. Denim.

The Canadian tuxedo isn’t going anywhere! Transition your favorite pair of denim into fall by pairing it with a denim jacket. If the all-denim look feels too much, break it up with a white t-shirt or tank top underneath. Personally, I prefer when the denim is tonal, with the shades matching closely. I’ve also seen plenty of denim-on-denim street style outfits and on the runway where the blues are completely different, and they still work beautifully. This look is perfect for a night out or a casual day with sneakers or loafers.

03. Trousers.

A great pair of trousers speaks for itself and embodies effortless chic. While there are countless ways to style them, I’m drawn to the sophistication of this outfit. It balances both masculine and feminine energy, and in fashion, when you blend two contrasting ideas, you often create something magical. Not always, but in this case, it definitely works.

04. White skirt.

A white skirt is a year-round wardrobe essential, whether it’s made of silk or cotton poplin—both are equally versatile. Pair it with socks (yes, socks!) and add ballet flats, kitten heels, or loafers along with a chic black top. For a preppier vibe, try a striped long-sleeve or an oversized cashmere sweater.

05. Slip dress.

This can mean a dress in several different ways, but mostly I’m talking about a silk mini or long slip dress. Something that can be easily layered. If you’re going long, my favorite way is to throw an oversized blazer on top of it. Keep it styled open or closed with a belt to cinch the waist. If you’re going short, I’d wear tights and a blazer or leather jacket.
